why we started
Most of us watched it happen. Someone joins a Credit Union, turns out to be genuinely good at the work, and spends three or four years learning the business. Then they leave. Sometimes for a bank. Sometimes out of financial services altogether.
They rarely leave because they stopped believing in the work.
They leave because the path forward was never made visible. Because no one outside their own branch knew their name. Because nobody ever sat down and told them what a career in this industry could actually look like.
“That’s a loss for the person. It’s a greater loss for the movement.”
Ho‘oulu Network exists to close that gap - so that the people coming up in O‘ahu’s credit unions can see a future here, and have the relationships and support to build it.
What we believe
how we work
The Ho‘oulu Network is member-driven by design. A steering committee handles the planning and organizing, but this isn’t a top-down program with a chain of command. It’s a group of Credit Union professionals building something they wanted to exist.
There are no dues. There’s no application process. Show up, and you’re part of it!
